On the basis of a training procedure used to train fleas for flea circuses, I trained a number of fleas to jump half their normal jumping height and filmed the result. In the video the fleas spring up and down in the lower three quarters of the image. The upper quarter shows the zone into which they avoid jumping for fear of bumping their heads against what is now a purely imaginary glass ceiling.
